Johanna is an illustrator and print designer based in Stockholm, Sweden. Her work is inspired by colour, humor and playfulness. She is working as a fashion model too. Johanna love to draw animals, cowboys, flowers and plants. The illustrations are made using gouache, pens and collage.
1. What role does the artist have in society?
- To tell a story through artistic approach.
2. How has your practice changed over time?
- Very very much I think! I have always loved to draw and I have worked a lot to develop my illustration and style to what it is today.
3. What art do you most identify with?
- Since I work as an illustrator, I guess illustration and other visual art is what I identify with the most. I see fashion as part of the art movement and fashion has always been a very important way for me to express myself freely and to try out creative ideas.
4. Describe a real-life situation that inspired you?
- My mother read a lot of books for me when I was a kid. I loved experiencing the stories and seeing the illustrations.
5. What memorable responses have you had to your work?
- It’s really an amazing feeling when my work makes people happy and giggly.
6. Favourite or most inspirational place?
- I recently visited Lisbon for the first time. I felt very inspired by the people I met there, it felt so easy to make new friends and thats something that always inspires me.
